Will Cyclopam Be Able To Reduce Stomach Ache And Loose Motions ?

My daughter who is 4 yrs old is having stomach pain and loose motion now. I gave her 5 ml cyclopam as per a paediatrician advise near by.In the last week, she was having stomach ache, loose motion and vomitng and she was treated by the same doctor who gave her IV injections for vomiting and loose motion and it gave result. But she had intermittant temperature rise and we give her mefenamic acid suspension(meftal-p) since then. Still she has the temp rise once after 4 hours of giving the medicine. Today she had loose motion again in the morning and had severe stomach ache. This was not there for the last couple of days. I gave her cyclopam 5 ml. What else I can do to contro stomach ache and loose motion? Is 7UP good for dehydration?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

She is suffering from Acute Gastroenteritis.
It is nothing but an infection of the gut (intestines).
Nothing to worry about as many children have more than one episode in a year and it can be treated by maintaining hydration of your child.

Here i would like to explain about the signs and symptoms of dehydration. So that you can understand and give proper fluids to your child.
Passing little urine, a dry mouth, a dry tongue and lips, fewer tears when crying, sunken eyes, weakness, being irritable or lethargic are the usual symptoms of dehydration.
As she have fever in addition to loose stools, vomiting and abdominal pain, she may need antibiotics.
This should be started by your treating pediatrician and he may recommend any stool test and then start antibiotics empirically.
Once the stool test result come, he may start proper antibiotic covering the causative agent.
You should encourage your child to take plenty of fluids. The aim is to prevent dehydration (low body fluid).
The fluid lost in their vomit and/or diarrhea needs to be replaced.
Your child should continue with their normal diet and usual drinks.
In addition, they should also be encouraged to drink extra fluids.
However, avoid fruit juices or fizzy and other carbonated drinks like 7UP, as these can make diarrhea worse.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
