Will Atenolol 10 Mg Lead To Low Blood Pressure?

I started taking Antenolol 10 days ago for SVT. I currently take 25mg in the morning but my bp gets too low and I cant sit/stand up for a few hours. I saw my dr today and he said that the beta blockers also lower bp and Antenolol was mt safest choice unless I wanted surgery. Is it safe to cut the dose in half and take one in the morning and one at night to help my bp stay higher? Also would increasing my salt help keep my bp higher? I get down to 94/66 - 100/75 bp. Without Antenolol my hr can get as high as 160 resting.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Beta blockers can lower the blood pressure so if your pressure is normally in the low range then it can lower it to the point that you have symptoms of hypotension (low blood pressure).

If you are on a once daily dose, then using it in the evenings may help because the symptoms may be reduced during the day.

The use of salt and increasing fluid intake (if this is an option for you), would help to increase your blood pressure.

I hope this helps
