Why Would I Be Prescribed Argiprime During Pregnancy?

I am 11 weeks pregnant and healthy. there are trace elements of protein in my urine. my doctor has prescribed Argiprime - I don t usually take any medications except fish oil, probiotics, & folate. My BP is usually on the low side. I have a really good fresh diet with grass fed beef and fish and plenty of vegetables and sprouts. I don t eat processed foods, refined oils or artificial sweeteners. I thinks these contain sweeteners and they are a vile fake orange colour which cant be good?? do you know why I would be prescribed these??

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Argiprime is composed of a semi-essential amino acid called 'arginine'.
When proteins are lost in the body due to conditions such as infections, trauma or loss of proteins through urine, biosynthesis of Arginine is impaired or less than normal, not meeting the needs of the body. Such individuals who do not have enough endogenous Arginine synthesis need external supplementation.
Also, intake protein rich foods such as peanuts, milk, eggs and soy proteins help in proper supplementation of Arginine.
This amino acid is essential for proper development of fetus in pregnancy. If this amino acid is deficit, it could lead to low birth weight and small for gestational age baby.
Hence, kindly take the medication as advised. Do the antenatal follow-up as scheduled.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
