Why Would Propofol, Versed And Precedex Be Given Together?

Why would a patient be given 3 different sedating drips of propofol, Versed and Precedex running simultaneously, in addition to ativan pushes ? Why all three ? And is it possible to give an overdose of saline and causing edema which leads to very high blood pressure and death by stroke while in a drug induced coma ? Nevermind, I thought the questions were free.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The patient could be having status epilepticus. Over infusion can lead to fluid excess / overload. Its possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
