Why Tongue And Throat Feeling Dry Even After Swallowing Saliva?

Okay. Long story short, I got sick a few days ago. And am getting better, but now, my tongue and throat are extremely dry. Even if I were to swallow saliva my throat does not feel moist at all. It s like something is stuck back there and I want it to go down but it wont. Is it because I slept with a halls in my mouth by accident? Because before I took the nap i didnt feel that and it s annoying.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have tongue and throat feeling dry even after swallowing saliva. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to certain reasons like acid reflux , dental infection or upper respiratory track infection . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan to find if there is any foreign body , throat swab test along with viral culture test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux or to dentist for oral infection . For now do warm saline gargles several times a day and also maintain proper oral hygiene .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
