Why Three Week Old Baby Is Waking Up Several Times From Sleep?

yes thank you... my 3 wk old g-baby boy is wanting to nurse about every hour, and we saw him last night - he fell asleep in my husbands arms, but shuttered & woke himself up several times within about 20 mins. should we be concerned? he does shutter a lot like he s cold, and he seems to be crabby - not smiling yet

Hi

Welcome to the HCM

I understand your concerns but don't worry. It's perfectly normal for 3 weeks old newborn to startle and stutter at times in sleep.

Babies start recognising mother at 1 month of age and smile clearly by 2-3 months of age also known as social smile. Since your baby is too young for that, it's perfectly fine.

During breast feeding, the initial thin milk is good at quenching thirst of baby and hind I'll which comes later is important for satisfying appetite. So, ensure complete feeding from one side before changing to other breast, so that baby gets both fore milk and hind milk. This will help in keeping him more satisfied.

Hopefully this will be helpful.

Take care
