Why There Is Pain In My Throat After Tongue Biopsy?
How many days off work after tongue biopsy. It is still very painful and my ear hurts as well. Dr also took piece of tonsil onother side and there is white stuff in back of throat that they say is normal. Throat is very sore and I couldn't even eat eggs without great difficulty.
I can understand your concern. Biopsy is a procedure where piece of tissue is taken for microscopic examination and detection of the disorder.
As biopsy is done on tongue and tonsil, the site is sore and inflamed. It takes time to heal and by the time it heals, it is usual to feel pain in the area. The white area that you are seeing at the biopsy site can be the tissue that forms in the process of healing and that is why it is considered normal by the doctors.
I would recommend that you take analgesics such as Ketorolac 10 mg (Ketorol DT) twice or thrice in a day for few days to control the pain. In addition, you can apply local Benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the sore area to have relief in pain. Have more liquids so that you do not feel pain of eating and swallowing. The site should heal in a week to 10 days and maintain follow up appointment with the doctor.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
