Why The Two Scan Reports So Confusing?

HI. I have had two separate brain scans done. One in 2012 and another this month. I am a little confused. Regarding the 2012 scan, the radiologist stated The ventricular system is midline and normal in caliber. On the 2014 scan, the radiologist (a different one) stated Mild asymmetry of the lateral ventricles is seen and felt developmental. Isn t this conflicting information? I m concerned that the 2nd radiologist was looking at the wrong scan. Could they have confused my scan with someone elses?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is important to keep in mind that NORMAL is a big range and may differ with experts. Some doctors see the images grossly normal and give a completely normal report while others can get critical and give a finding of mild asymmetry. Either way it doesnt look like a significant problem but to clear your doubts, I suggest you discuss the findings with a neurologist and know his clinical opinion with respect to the symptoms you have.
