I am 51yrs,female ,on thyroxine since 1988.Of late there seem to be lot of variations in the levels.4months ago the TSH reading was 40.0 and after a month it was 0.88 and now 3 months later it is 0.15.I am presently taking 150 and 125 mcg throxine alternately,as advised by the local doctor. Please advice.
Low TSH levels in a patient of hypothyroidism being treated with levothyroxine is most commonly due to an excessive dose of levothyroxine. Rarely it could be due to emergence of hyperthyroidism.
At present, your dosage should be decreased and TSH rechecked after 6 weeks.
Hope it helps........
