Why is my sore throat and burning ears problem recurring even after treatment ?

Last week I had sore throat (hard to even swallow ) and my ears burned too! Went to dr. Had strep and flu test (all negative! Gave me amoxil (1000mg a day) for 14 days and 2 shots (1 steroid the other antibiotic). Felt as I was getting better for 2 days. Now sore throat is back and ear is burning again. What is happening? Thought about going back today to dr. Wanted another opinion.

Thanks for your query.

I will try my best to provide you with best possible professional recommendations to your questions.

I think you are suffering from pharyngitis.

Most sore throats are caused by viruses. Antibiotics do not help. Using them to treat viral infections helps strengthen bacteria and make them resistant to antibiotics.

I advice you to drink warm liquids such as lemon tea or tea with honey. Gargle several times a day with warm salt water. A cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier can moisten and soothe a dry and painful throat, even the steam inhalation can also help. Hard candies or throat lozenges which are available in medical shop can be used.

The symptoms of a sore throat can be relieved by using over-the-counter medicines like paracetamol, ibuprofen.

I advice you avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and if you are suffering from GERD that should be treated, as that might be responsible for sore throat.

Yet again, I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
