Why Is My Potassium Level So High?

I recently found out that my potassium is high. I did see a list of foods to avoid but nothing was mentioned about about salt. I drink plenty of milk, eat cheese and I also eat a good bit of crackers. Nothing was mentioned about cheese nor the salt. Please advise me. Francis Hebert

Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Besides kidney disease, increased potassium can result from cell damage, taking certain drugs (some diuretics and blood pressure medications like ACE inhibitors), deficiencies in certain hormones such as aldosterone (a hormone produced by the adrenal glands), and metabolic problems.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
