Why Is My Period Suddenly Irregular?

I am 45 years old and my last period was on March 12, 2016. I am about 47 days late. I used to have 28 day cycles and then for the past year it has went from 28 days to a range from 26 to 37 days. This is the latest that it has ever been.It has been feeling as if something is going to flow for the past week but I have yet to see anything. Could this be the start of perimenopause for me?

Hi.

Taking your age into considerstion, it could quite be. But before that we will have to rule out plenty other causes which can influence such fluctuations like a few medical conditions, stress, side effect of medications, etc.
