Hi My daughter hit her head pretty hard about a week ago. She has complained that she has a headache, she also hit her head again today and now she has a fever. (My other child also has had a fever since yesterday !) But I just dont know if i should tale her to the ER?
Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern.
I think that the fever may be caused by a viral infection, not related to the headache. As you refer, your other child has fever, so it seems to be a viral infection in both of your children.
The repeated head trauma is very concerning. It can cause a severe medical condition. I would like to know if you have noticed any nose or ear leaking or neck stiffness during these days at your daughter. This is to be sure that she has no cerebrospinal fluid leaking.
I would recommend you to consult her with the GP for neurological signs, have a routine blood test for infection. If no neurologic signs, there is nothing to worry about.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Aida
