Anoxic encephalopathy (wide range of complications, from none in short-term anoxia to personality changes, severe brain damage to death in long-term anoxic events) is in your case due to epilepsy casing anoxic damage. It is possible that nerves are damaged to some extent and results in lack of eye contact as the muscles that move eyeball is weak. The exact cause of autism is not known, but research has pointed to several possible factors, including genetics (heredity), metabolic or neurological factors, certain types of infections, and problems occurring at birth. In some children, environmental factors may also play a role. Studies of people with autism have found abnormalities in several regions of the brain, which suggest that autism results from a disruption of early brain development while still developing in the mother's womb. The brain damage in your child's case can behavioral changes if not true autism. Relax and take care of your child. Regards
