Why Is My TSH Increasing Inspite Of Medications?

My daughter P m,,,terjee (age - 12 yrs 07 months) was diagnosed of Hypothyroid in October 2010. Her blood report was as follows: T3 - 1.026 ng/ml, T4 - 6.472 mcg/dL, TSH - 11.55 mcIU/mL. She was advised Eltroxin 100 mg one tablet per day. After one month medicine was stopped as TSH was normal and advised retest every 6 months. Now on 22.06.2011 the test report has TSH as 37. Please advise.

I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

She has hypothyroidism and her TSH level is high. So she need thyroid supplement drugs like eltroxin. But her TSH level increase after stopping eltroxin.

She need to take eltroxin regularly. Don't stop it. Check TSH level after 6 weeks and set the dosage accordingly. Don't stop it completely. Consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
