it can be due to lumbar canal stenosis. There is nerve compression in the back which is troubling her. For confirmation I would suggest you to get MRI of the spine that will prove the diagnosis. Pregabalin and Methylcobal can provide pain relief to her. Also continue to give her calcium medications. If there is very severe compression then she might need surgical intervention.

I want to suggest you to get MRi to make sure that her osteoporotic fracture is not causing any compression on the spinal cord as it can be a cause of the weakness. For osteoporosis I would suggest to give her calcium and vitamin D and biphosphonate. Also there is nasal spray of calcitonin is available which can be used for this purpose.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Any walking involves the spine to be active. In spinal osteoporosis, the spine will be painful and walking will therefore be limited.
2. Due to limited walking, atrophy of muscles will start.
3. She need to strengthen muscles with passive and active exercises. Pain in the spine would be the main reason.
4. If there is nerve compression due to stress fracture, secondary to osteoporosis, condition could worsen. She needs to take calcium and vit D supplements.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query
After going through your suffering ,severe weakness of bone (osteoporosis) for which calcium tablet alone may not work. The osteoporosis may be confirmed by Bone mineral density (BMD) by dexa scan along with X ray of spine.Leg pain could be because of pinched nerve.
For now my advice would be-
1. For Osteoporosis there is few options like- calcitonin nasal spray (Rock bone C nasal spray).
- Once a year injection of zoldronic acid, once a month tablet of alendronate, once a week tablet of osteophos.
- Injection Teriparatide.
You may discuss with your treating doctor and decide what is best for you.
Take balanced diet rich in calcium (1000mg/day) and vitamin D (1000 i.u. /day) along with vitaminB12, B6.Vitamin D is available in weekly dose pattern as well as injection, just talk to your local doctor as the above written medicine are prescription only .
Hope this information suffices.
Take care and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
