Why Is Trental Prescribed After Chemotherapy?
My son recently completed chemotherapy and radiation for throat cancer. His recent PET scan found something suspicious . The doctors thinks it is from the original surgery but it could be malignant. He called it an ulcer that has not healed and prescribed Trental. What is Trental and why would it be prescribed?

Trental is a brand name of Pentoxifylline. It is generally used for the peripheral vascular disease. It is not given in cancer patients.
