Why Is Ovunal 5000 Injection Given During Pregnancy?

Hi, My wife had a miscarriage and we have done D&C last April. Now my wife is 6 weeks pregnant. Yesterday we consulted OB and she given ovunal 5000 injection and prostregene tabs. And we were asked to go for ultrasound next week. My questions are.. 1. Why that injection is required ? 2. My neighbors are threatening that it is not good as pregnant immediately after 60 days of D&C. Even though we have not actually prepared for preganacy but it happened. Now my wife is worrying about neighbors suggestion. Advise me ? 3. If pregnancy is fine at this time, what are the diets we should take ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that supports the normal development of an egg in a woman's ovary and stimulates the release of the egg during ovulation.

HCG is used to cause ovulation and to treat infertility in women, and to increase sperm count in men.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
