Why I Am Getting Swelling In My Lip?

I have a severe swelling in my upper lip it started on one side last night and has gotten worse. My entire top lip is swollen. I work with 10.5% sodium hypochlorite and yesterday i had to prime a pump which I do regularly and I did get some chlorine on my mouth. I don't know if I should go to the hospital.

As per your complain
severe swelling of the lip that started with one side of the lip and has extended gradually over the entire lip causing worsening seems to be due to allergic reaction to any unknown allergen leading to Allergic Angioedema of lip..

It can occur due to a number of causes like any food or medication.lip cosmetics, bug/insect bite etc..

As of now you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine, benadryl, allegra etc..
Do cool compresses over the lip.
Avoid applying any lip cosmetic and apply only petroleum jelly or aloevera gel..
Avoid biting, licking or pressing the lip..

In case of no resolution in 2 to 3 days or if symptoms worsen consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can also do allergic tests to rule out the cause of the symptoms..
Steroid injection can be advised along with oral medications for faster relief..
