Why Has BP Suddenly Been High In A Hypertension Patient?

I am taking amlodipine for my hypertension of which I have not been compliant. Since Saturday I have been having high blood pressure. My normal BP is 110/70, but lately my BP ranges from 140/80 to 170/80. I feel a pulsation on my nape. Can you tell me please what is cause of this. Thank you.Lyn
