Why Does My 5 Year Old Son's Ribs Hurt?

My 5 year old son has been holding his ribs occasionally and saying that they hurt and we need to take him to the hospital. He also says this about his eye or any pain he may have so I fear he may just be dramatic. However, I don't want to ignore a true concern.

I can understand your concern.
It is mostly musculoskeletal pain only but better to rule out internal pathology like cardiac and Pulmonary causes.
So get done ecg to rule out cardiac cause.
Get done chest x ray to rule out Pulmonary causes.
If both are normal then no need to worry much for his rib pain.
It is mostly musculoskeletal pain.
