Why Did I Get Cloudy Dark Section In Catheter After Taking Sulfamethoxadole?

Eight hours after I took sulfamethoxadole I had a dark cloudy section in my catheter. That was 6 am when I took it. Monday I get my catheter out after having my prostete removed Dec. 4. What or why did I get this cloudy dark 18 inch section? I had just cooked some food ate and finally sat down and noticed the distinct change, then it has stopped as soon as it had started. Was I too active and was it blood? Thank you John.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
The 18 inch section was actually long section of clotted blood usually dark brown mixed with urine .
As I have seen in so many patient in whom we insert catheter for retention of urine or after prostate removal .
This is very common due to internal injury of urethra and due to blood clotting.
Usually this type of clot seems like a string (thick ) and seen in long standing cases.
Nothing to worry , only consult your doctor .
We only replace old catheter with new one.
Good luck.
