Why Did I Feel Chest Discomfort With High Pulse Rate?

Hi. The other day I went to hospital with a racing heart and some chest discomfort. I had EKG, ECG, blood tests and lung x-ray. Doctors said that none of them showed anything bad going on and I was discharged. Is it possible that the symptoms were generated by a panic/axiety attack? The chest discomfort in particular would always disappear whenever I was fairly calm. The high pulse rate reduced as I calmed down, although it continued ~95bpm (normal for me is 75-85) into the next day. I booked an appointment with the hospital and a doctor reassured me nothing bad was going to happen. The high pulse rate then disappeared as soon as I got back and has now been gone several days. I still sometimes worry about what has/is happening to me but when I am calm I feel completely normal.

Welcome to healthcare magic! If your ECG, blood tests and x-ray are normal and it settles down when you are calm , it is more to do with stress. Practice stress management techniques like yoga/meditation. Exercise daily. Is your blood pressure normal?Get your stress test (TMT) done to rule out cardiac cause.
