Why Causes Loss Of Consciousnesses After Turning Blue In The Face?
I had an episode tonight : I began to choke on aspirated liquid. My partner began pounding my back. Then my hands began to move as if to clap. My face turned purple. I lost consciousness for a bit. When I began to regain it I noticed my hands still moving as though to clap. I was still having trouble getting any air. Eventually I did. Now my partner and sister are freaked out: You were in seizure!!!, You were GONE!!! etc. Did I have a seizure? Is it brain related or due to lack of oxygen to the brain? If I need to see a doctor, what specialty? I don t have a primary care physician that has any decent history on me... Any thoughts???
Its seems that you have had a seizures. For this reason, I would recommend consulting with a neurologist and performing a careful neurological exam and some tests:
- an EEG - complete blood count - blood electrolytes -a brain CT scan or MRI study.
Other tests to consider would be a cardiac check up, including a cardiac ultrasound and an ambulatory Holter rhythm monitoring for cardiac arrhythmia.
