Why Causes Cough That Leads To Severe Pain In Leg?

I have been diagnosed with pneumonia and have develped a severe cough to the point of dry heaving. Now the cough continues but I have developed a severe pain in my right thigh, from the hip to the knew. I am on prednisone and anti biotics as well as cough meds and the flegm discharge has decreased.

Hi,
The seveir coughing action brings about jerks to complete body. These jerks may irritate the nerve supplying leg( Sciatic nerve)/ the pyriformis muscle near hip joint which compresses sciatic nerve at a certain position- the irritated nerve , This must be causing pain in your right thigh -hip to knee.
* For this, apart form treatment for your cough, you need to have Vitamin B complex ( specially Vit, B12, Vitamin E), calcium supplementation.Take high protein diet to improve your general condition.
* support hip when you have bout of cough,
* try moderate physical therapy for the pain with an expert's advice.
