Why Can I Hear My Heart Pounding? Is It Sinking?

of sudden onset at night i can hear my heart pounding in my ears and on putting my hand on my chest every now and ago my heart seems to skip a beat. During the day i am get this constant feeling of my heart sinking. No i am not anxious about anything, no major changes in my circumstances at home or work. It just like all of a sudden i notice that i have a heart and it pumps and it misses beats.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM
After reading what you have described is you may be having irregular beats in medical terms VPC that is extra systole.
It would be advisable to check with a cardiologist and get a ECG to know the cause.
Then a detail cardiac work up including 2 D Echocardiography and Holter Monitoring may be required to trace the exact cause and treat it
In the mean time avoid smoking and excess of tea and cofee.
Just relax and get your check up as soon as possible.
