Why Are The Skin On The Hands And Legs Of An Infant Peeling?

My 7 mos old son has had peeling feet for close to 2 wks. His palms were then peeling, but have since stopped. His doc said he was exposed to strep and asked if he had a fever or sore throat. I know he hasn t had a fever, I m not sure about a sore throat, but he hasn t acted irritable. Is this an accurate diagnosis? What else could it be?
