Why Are The Incisions On Left Side Of Abdomen For Appendectomy?

my 16 yr old daughter just had an appendectimy and she has two small inscions on left side of abdomin. They went through naval as well. At the time ,I didn t think to ask dr why the left side. Now we are very curious as to why the inscions are on left side of abdomin.

In my opinion,the surgeons had operated using a modern surgical technique with laparoscopy(named key hole surgery),where usually 3 to 4 tiny incisions measuring 1 to 2cm (which can be through navel or on left side) are made in the abdomen to get better access and for safe removal of the appendix.Laparoscopic appendectomy is considered as a minimally invasive method with better prognosis(like early recovery,minimal scars)compared to open appendectomy,which is invasive,needing large incision sizing 8 to 10cms.
