Why Am I Smelling This Strange Smell ?

Hello, all day today I noticed a strange smell, almost like car exhaust fumes. I have a mild cold with nasal congestion and upper respiratory congestion. But I am not totally stuffy and able to blow my nose. Question I have is why am I smelling this strange smell ? I thought it was from my car but I keep smelling it in other places. I checked my clothes and its not that either.

Hi,

This is called Parosmia, altered sense of smell in the absence of that smell. This can occur in some cases of flu, head injury, etc. No need to worry, do steam inhalation, drink plenty of warm water and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Any more doubts you are welcome.

Regards

Dr. Naveen Kumar
