General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Heart burn and stomach pain can occur due to Gastro- oesophageal reflux disease, Gastritis, Gastric ulcer disease, Barrett's oesophagus. Symptoms include- heart burn, regurgitation, pain with swallowing, increased salivation, chest pain, epigastric pain, bloating, loss of appetite and many more. GERD caused by abnormal relaxation of oesophageal sphincter lead to damage of mucosal barrier b/w stomach & oesophagus while gastric ulcer occur due to many reasons like H. pylori infection, stress & NSAIDs induced. Consult a surgeon for proper management after few investigations like 24 hour pH monitoring, Endoscopy of oesophagus and stomach region. You may take tab. pan 40 bd 1/2 hour before meal for first 15 days followed by once a day for more 15 days. Avoid taking spicy, fatty or oily food as much as possible, take small meal at frequent interval do not keep the stomach empty for long period, take high fibre diet.
Take care, bye.
