Why Am I Experiencing Palpitations Periodically With Chest Discomfort And Night Sweats?

I'm a 42 yr old female experiencing palpitations periodically, chest discomfort and night sweats. In the mornings, I feel lightheaded and rather warm in the face. I do have high blood pressure and family hx of heart disease. My brother passed from a major heart attack at the age of 51. My father passed from a stroke. My mother is still living but has DM, Elevated BP & Heart Disease. Oh yes, I was once told that I have an enlarged heart valve.
Thank you,
Nicole

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi Nicole,
Thanks for posting your query in Health Care Magic, i understand your concern.
With your family history and your personal health history i think you might be going through the symptoms due to the diagnosed heart problem or other cardiac problems.
Since you are a known hypertensive, the symptoms could be due to the raised blood pressure also.
I suggest you to get an ECG, ECHO and Routine blood tests done .
Also get your thyroid profile to rule out the possibility of hyperthyroidism.
Once you get the results consult a physician or follow up with me for further management.
Considering your age, and history of hypertension you should look out for cardiac problems as well.
Its better the earlier you get diagnosed and start with appropriate treatment.
Meanwhile try reducing your weight if you weigh more than ideal weight for age and height.
Reduce intake of salt, spice and do start up with anti-hypertensives for keeping your blood pressure in normal limits after consulting your physician.
Hope this helps.
Write back to us for further assistance, wish you good health.
Take good care.
