hello.... you can take a multivitamin post breakfast or lunch.. but make sure you eat all foods properly..as far as your 6 year old son is concerned..you need to inculcate good good habits in him...like eating fruits, nuts, salads, juices, oats, whole grains, milk curds etc... reduce junk as much as possible... dont put him in the habit of fried and sweets...teach him to drink lot of water..as far as a multivitamin is concerned you can give him centrum for kids..or any other multivitamin for kids post lunch..

Pediatrician, Infectious Diseases Dr. Hema Yadav's  Response
Hello,

First of all remember that natural vitamins available from fresh and homemade foods are better digested and absorbed by the body and are always preferred in children over prescription multivitamin syrups.

This is because vitamins like proteins, fats etc have to be taken in the right amount and both excess as well as deficiency can harm the body.Hence it is advisable to give multivitamins in children only if prescribed by their pediatrician.Any brand containing Vitamins A, Bcomplex, C and D along with essential minerals like zinc, magnesium, calcium are preferred.

There is no rule as such for time of taking vitamins. However the best time would be right after breakfast. The body has a hard time breaking down vitamins and doing it before bed makes it even harder. Also by taking them after breakfast with plenty of water (water is essential to vitamins) his body will not only get more use out of them, but he should find

an added boost to his day.

Wishing him good health.

Regards
