Which Specialist Is Needed To Treat Cough Syncope?

My father faints after some serious episodes of cough. He couldn t remember any thing during this fainting episode. It all started when he had a strong pain in his right shoulder and neck. We went for MR I and the result was his C5 and C6 disks were compressed, we went to a physiotherapist and the pain seems to be low then previous. Had an ECG done and it is also normal. What could be the problem for fainting while long episodes of coughing. He used to be a chronic smoker, but for last 15 days, he stopped smoking. He used to cough all night and that has also reduced a lot. I doubt it s cough syncope. Please suggest on which specialist to meet? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It may be a cough syncope or cord compression due to cervical spondylosis lead to syncope.

You also check for cardiac causes or respiratory causes of syncope.

Get it done a chest x-ray, ECG, MR angiogram.

Then consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
