When Will The Wrist Bite With A Red Streak And Soreness Heal?

I was bitten on the wrist by a tick 9 days ago. I notice a red streak running from the wrist, past my elbow. I went to a walk in clinic and they prescribed a 10 day supply (20 pills) of doxycycline, and a 4mg steroid pack of generic prednosone. I have taken 5 pills of the doxy, and have taken 1 day of the steroid pack. The soreness is much better, but the red streak is still there (it s not gotten any longer, but it hasn t gotten shorter either). Any idea when I can expect the red streak to start getting smaller? I m worried because the person at the clinic said it appeared to be infected. Thanks for your help.

Dear patient,
Please complete your course of antibiotics and steroids as both are needed. You can additionally apply heparin/ thrombophobe gel locally to decrease redness of the streak. By the natural course, it shall subside on its own in 2 weeks time. Do not itch over the streak as that may worsen the healing.
