When Should Test For HIV And STDs Be Taken?

Hi, 3 years ago I had a girlfriend that had a boyfriend before me. We had sex many times. She had a bump right on her lip(top part). She went to the doctor where he said it was a cyst or something...and he had it removed. Should I get tested for HIV or any STD's?

Thank you for query.it is too old for you to think about STDs .But there are diseases which can remain silent or asymptomatic. If you are anxious about them you can now consult doctor and get tested for HIV,Hepatitis Band C,Herpes .These would be sufficient .others would have manifested by now.You can get back directly to me for any clarifications with the details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist.
