When Is An ETC Therapy Recommended By A Psychiatrist?

I need to know everything I can about ETC therapy. My mother s psychiatrist wants her to do this. I know little but I am totally against what I know of as shock therapy. Please do you agree or disagree with this treatment? Or under what circumstances would you use ETC therapy?
