Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your question in detail and I know that you are very concerned about your child but don't worry about it.

Since your child is on stool softeners, we have to gradually taper it.
Usually, it takes around 1 week for the child to return to normal state.
You should consult your doctor once again, so that he tapers the dose of stool softeners.

I hope this will help you.
Take care.
