When And What Dosage Of Regestrone Has To Be Taken To Postpone Periods?

I have been prescribed with Regestrone 5th to delay my periods. My queries are as follows; 1. Is it safe to take as I had suffered from DVT post pregnancy? 2. How many days before My MC due date should I take the tablet? 3. For how many maximum days can I take it? 4. Is the dosage 1 pill per day? Rgds, Prabha

Hi,

It is not safe to take rogesterone while having had suffered from DVT. To postpone the period you have to take rogesterone-5 mg tablet three times daily three days before the expected period. It should be taken on the same time of day for a maximum of 10-14 days.

You will get the period 2-3 days after stopping the tablet. Regesterone can increase the risk of developing blood clots (DVT) so you must inform your doctor if you experience calf pain or swelling (sings of blood clot), difficulty in breathing or chest pain or tightness.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
