Whats The Significance Of Medically Induced Coma?
Why would a patient be put into a medically-induced coma for treatment of diabetes. The patient I am referring to is a long-term, brittle, Type I diabetic that requires U-500 insulin multiple times a day. He states he is being put into a coma to shock his pancreas and decrease his insulin resistance

There can be many reasons why a person would be put into a medically induced coma, some are put in one to be able to intubate them (which would otherwise cause discomfort to a conscious person); some to provide shock as mentioned by your doctor; some because better delivery and administration of medications, oxygen, etc; would be achieved if the patient weren't conscious.
