What Type Of Diet Need To Be Followed For 18 Month Old?

My child started eating solid foods very late (18 months). He was doing fine for three weeks but is now refusing any form of solid food but eats fine when it is pureed. Should I let him go hungry and force him to eat some sort of solid food (this rarely works although I haven t tried keeping him hungry for more than three hours) or shall I keep pureeing it? The doc s advice is to let him go hungry and he will then eat but my child is more than happy to not eat.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Gradually change consistency from semisolid to solid; avoid shifting all of a sudden to solids. Giving snacks like banana/biscuits in his hand will promote self eating and get him adjusted to solids. Some children takes time- no need to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
