What Treatment Is Suggested For Sun Burns ?

hi
I got sun burn very bad the weekend before last. so the first week in march, I loved in florida and it has been cool for a few weeks, and that weekend was 85 degrees. I am orginally from new york and lived in illinois where its cloudy and cold most of the year. Either way we went to a show and we were sitting there and i felt like i got sun burn, when i got home i saw i got sun burn badly. A few days later on a Monday this happen on a about saturday, i notice a small bump, thinking it was a fever blister i went to the pharmacy and got aberva. The minute i put it on the blister spread through the other side of my lip and my lip swelled up 5 x its normal size. I was also dizzy and nausous. I almost fainted. so i went to the pharmacist and he told me its not fever blister it is sun poisning and i need to take bendryl and stop using aberva because it was not working but making it worse. now its been a week today and my lip is no longer swollen but it has the green patches form 85 percent of my lip, it looks like i got burn . I am thinking of going to the doc because i feel it could be infected. what do you think ?

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
From your description it seems like sun burn. In the early stages steroid cream will benefit in sunburn. But now after many days it won't be useful. You may apply an antibiotic cream like mupirocin or neosporin three times a day. Apply a moisturising cream frequently, one containing aloe vera will be good. Usually the skin peels off and new skin will come in a weeks time. Hope this helped,
Take care.
