What To Do Until I See A Vascular Surgeon After Stent And Bypass Operation On The Left Leg?

Hello Doctor, While in Florida *we are snowbirds) I had a stent and a bypass oprtation on my left leg. I was flown back to Fergus, On. where I spent 5 days in hospital. The Vascular surgeon in St. Petersburg Florida has staatyed that I needed to see a Vascular surgeon immediately upon mt return to Canada. I am still waiting to see one. What should I do,m, or can I do? ThNKS

1. since you have undergone operation on lower extremity thus probably you suffered from PAD [peripheral arterial disease] which means a thorough evaluation for cardiac problems and a careful review of medical therapies and surgical considerations was established before performing the operation.

2. before having an appointment with your vascular surgeon incorporate following in your activities

. keep the surgical area clean and dry and follow any specific bathing instructions [if given]
. refrain from participating in any strenuous activities.
. continue with medications as notified during discharge
. Your doctor may perform ultrasound examination(s) on your leg after surgery to monitor the new graft.
. If at any time of the day you feel fever, chest pain, felling of dizzines, nausea vomiting, pain-bleeding-numbness/tingling sensation in the affected extremity, you should inform your doctor at once.

3. No procedure is risk-free, but you will experience a minimum number of complications if you see a vascular surgeon near your locality who will discuss the important risks and benefits with you and answer your particular questions.
