What To Do If Having Extreme Sweating, Rapid Weight Gain?

Hi I have been internally overheating for some months, general swelling rapid weight gain which has stabilised now. I find 25 degree C hot and sweat heavily. Any exertion makes me very hot and sweaty. Have heart problems, but recent Echogram, ecg etc, show all is ok in that area. I have been put on frusemide 40mg daily, but this has had little effect.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
In the presence of the symptoms of rapid weight gain, swelling of the body, feeling hot, exertion, you need to get thyroid function tests done.
Thyroid hormones control the metabolic rate of the body.
Decrease of these hormones slow down the basal metabolic rate and increased secretion of these hormones lead to fast metabolic rate.
The thyroid hormones affect all the organs of the body and the basal metabolic rate.
Thus, you need to get thyroid function test done to determine the status of the thyroid hormones.
T3, T4 and TSH need to be done.
In case of any abnormality, corrective measures need to be taken.
Consult your doctor for prescription of the tests and further work up.

Thanks and take care
