What To Do For Dryness And Cold In Throat?

Why does my throat feel cold air and dry every time I breathe in with nose or mouth. It does not hurt and is not sore, just cold and dry when inhaling. Sometimes I also usually feel as if there is a small lump of mucous in my throat which is weird because it feels dry when I breathe. Also I feel a slight tightness in my throat and I do not have any anxiety at all. Lately when I eat it feels like the food is heavy in my chest and takes a long time to digest. Slight burn/acidiy feeling in chest as well. But the dry throat started a week before I was even having the acidity digestion problem. Will my throat go back to normal? Did i permanently damaged some tissue in my throat? The dryness/cold feeling in throat has been happening for almost 3 weeks now

Hi dear ,

The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as acidic reflux disease also known as gastrointestinal reflux disease ( GERD) . This occur due to dysfunctioning of upper sphincter of esophagus , which let the acidic content of stomach to come upwards upto oropharynx . This acidic content irritates the mucosal lining of throat and make it dry and sore .

I would suggest you to you consult a Gastroenterologist for all tests like endoscopy of esophagus and X-ray of upper respiratory track . Doctor may prescribe drugs like ranitidine and omeprazole . For now what you can do is :-

Avoid oily, spicy and high fiber diet.
Avoid eating with full stomach rather you eat small frequent meals.
Made regular eating pattern.
Have your dinner before 8 pm so that at the time of sleeping your stomach will be empty.
Take light walk after every meal .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
