My husband just had a hip replacement surgery yesterday. During the surgery while inserting the prosthetic into the femur, the femur cracked and they had to wrap it in wire. He previously had ankle surgery - on the other leg, and developed a bone infection from all the nuts and byb's that were previously used to repair the ankle. for which he received IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. Also, he is saying that since last evening, his butt cheek is 'on fire'. Is this normal? He is in intense pain. After the surgery, and after the surgeon telling me about the fracture and the wire, the surgeon said he did not want him using the chair lift up the stairs in our home then later, he said use the lift and only put balance weight on the leg. Each time the instructions change.
