What To Do After Swallowing Fish Bone?

Hi, I swallowed a fish bone an hour ago, i believe it was quite small but i am sometimes feeling pain when i swallow but feels like it is not in the throat but below the throat on the left hand side. I don t want to alarm my parents as one is at work and the other asleep.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain after accidentally swallowing a fishbone which is acting as foreign body there. It will cause accumulation of bacteria and debris and giving you pinched sensation type feel and this bone has some hard and sharp thing that had gone inside giving small abrasion in food pipe. If there is only abrasions then your symptom will resolve in 24 hours and you need not to worry about that. If you are having any foreign body in throat then your problem keeps on persisting and visit ENT specialist immediately. Go for fibro-optic scan and with the help of fiberoptic tip get that foreign object removed which is causing problem. Do warm saline gargles and maintain basic oral hygiene.
