What Should I Do As I Cant Fully Straighten My Knee?

I previously had knee surgery for a torn meniscus that had to be removed because they weren t able to repair it. A week ago I injured the same knee. I m not able to fully straighten it, and it hurts to bend it or put pressure on it when walking up the stairs. My family doctor says it s just a sprain - does this sound right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a strained knee. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. I also suggest cold compresses for local applications. I recommend maintaining the area immobilized for fast recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
