What Should I Do To Overcome Depression?

Dear Doctor, I am 26 years old, married and have a 6 month old daughter. I live with my in laws. From the time we were married 2 and a half years ago, my husband and I have never spent time alone at home (the house is always full of people). I've understood this right from the beginning, but now this seems like the most important problem. I feel frustrated, vexed, cry at the slightest provocation (even by thinking of crying). I've spoken about this to my husband, he seems aloof, and I dont think he fully comprehends what I'm going through. I pick up quarrels with him every night and end up crying. The reasons for my quarrels seem justified, but my husband does not seem to understand. There are also other multiple issues that make me depressed, sleepless. I enjoy time with my child and she is my only consolation. I'd like to consult a good family psychiatrist in Chennai. Please guide me in the right direction. Thank you

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. This is the case with every recently married women in India. This so happens just because husband do not spend time with the wife. Secondly wife, being came from other culture and home, feel lonely always. That is normal. The moment you understand that you are part of this family and house and you cannot run away from it, the disappointment flies away. You are supposed to be the head of the family (Lakshmi). Other family members will treat you so if you behave accordingly. Be brave, change your attitude, you can do it. You are not depressed, but disappointed. Engage yourself in entertainment. Talk to your husband yourself. Don't wait for him to talk.
