Hello,

Dental etching with 37% phosphoric acid can cause burns if not rinsed with water properly. Rinse properly with water. It can also happen when the cotton wool used was removed much ahead of time. and hence the gingiva became traumatized and bluish. You are hurt because of improper rinsing of the etching material & material left in the oral cavity.

You can take analgesics to help reduce inflammation and swelling, Taking antihistamine may help in case of symptoms showing due to allergy. However, you are advised to get a follow-up clinical examination by your treating doctor so that you can be examined for any burn in the oral cavity that needs sub epithelial connective tissue graft or any other type of grafting or treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
