What S The Survival Rate Of 62-year Old Men Having Stage-4 Tongue Cancer?

I had stage 4 tongue cancer in 2014 which was discovered because of enlarged lymph nodes. They said it was too advanced to operate so I did 7 weeks of radiation and chemo. I was wondering the survival rate. I am 62 years old and I still get very tired . I had to go on disability. I am active and in decent shape however I have had numerous issues in cluding a lung resection due to xenopi in 2009 and I had a heart attack in 2010.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have stage 4 tongue cancer which is a advanced stage of carcinoma. Surgery is not definitive treatment at this stage as it is done at early stages. Radiation therapy, concurrent chemoradiation, and induction therapy are treatment options in your case. In early treatment cases it has excellent prognosis. Enblock resection is also done to clear it marginally as well. I would suggest you to consult oncologist physician once with your biopsy and histopathological reports as well to find out exact prognosis. As you have multiple comorbidities so you should get it examined to find exact treatment approach.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
